Roberta Gail "Bobbi" Herman

Roberta Gail (Bobbi) Herman, 67 passed away unexpectedly on Saturday November 16, 2019 at her home in Prattville. Bobbi was born In Portsmouth, VA on Sept 7, 1952 to Lt. Col. Dale and Josephine Harbert. Bobbi grew up an Army brat living in Germany, Japan and across the United States. She was a proud graduate of the University of Alabama in 1974 with a BA in Accounting. Upon graduation, Bobbi went to work for International Paper Company as an Auditor at the IP Corporate Headquarters in New York and eventually became an Audit Manager. In 1978, she moved to Mobile, Alabama to become the Plant Controller for the IP Standard Products Plant. It was in Mobile she met the love of her life, John Carl Herman, and they were married in Mobile on February 10, 1979. Bobbi retired after more than 25 years with H & R Block and regularly volunteered with the American Red Cross and Gillespie Senior Center helping seniors with their income taxes. Bobbi was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Prattville. Bobbi was predeceased by her parents Dale and JoJo Harbert. Bobbi is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, John C. Herman of Prattville. Bobbi and John were blessed with one son who brought her so much pride and joy, Major Jonathan D. Herman and his wife Marin, of Hill AFB, Utah, two step-daughters Paula Miller and Michelle Johnson both of Mobile, two sisters Carole Carroll (David) of Tuscaloosa and Patricia Brooks (Chip) of Leesburg, VA, sister-in-laws Beth Neiden (Gene), Betty Herman both of Mobile and a number grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and one special little great granddaughter, Karliegh Rascoe of Mobile. A Memorial Service to honor Bobbi’s beautiful life is planned for Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Christ Lutheran Church, 2175 Cobbs Ford Road, Prattville, AL 36066 at 1 PM with a reception immediately following in the Church Parish Hall where the family will receive guests. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bobbi’s honor to Christ Lutheran Church or the American Red Cross.
