Ruth Dianne Hollingshead

Ruth Dianne Hollingshead, 66, of Selma, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, after a short battle with colon cancer. Dianne was born on April 6th, 1958, to Dorothy Lee Hollingshead. She attended Southside High School in Selma and graduated in 1976. In 1986, Dianne gave birth to Kimberlee (Lee) Gail, and another daughter, Helen Shelbie, in 1989. Throughout the years, one constant remained the same—the love she felt for her daughters. Dianne’s one goal in life was to raise her girls with all of the love she possessed, and to make sure their lives were as perfect as she could make them. She put her everything into making sure they experienced life to the fullest. She enrolled Lee in dance classes, and Helen in softball. She took them on trips and spent countless hours with them, teaching them as much as she could about life. In 2008, Lee gave birth to Dianne’s first grandchild, a boy named Andrew James. Dianne was beside her during the delivery and held her hand as Drew entered the world. As predicted, Dianne became the best grandmother in the world. She took Drew to birthday parties, zoos, holidays events, and more. Dianne’s love for him was immeasurable. In 2011, Dianne became a grandmother to Helen’s child, Braxton Forrest. Although it didn’t seem possible, her ability to love grew even more, and she spent her remaining years living near their family so that she could be there for him as well. Dianne lived her life by one simple motto: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. She had been an active member in many Methodist churches over the years and exemplified a Christian life by helping others when they needed it. The kindness she embodied not only left an impact on the ones who knew her, but through her children and their children. Her love will never be gone; it will be passed down in the hearts and minds of those that loved her best. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Lee, and her sister, Gail. Dianne lived for the moment that all three of them would be reunited within the love of their Heavenly Father. Her last moments were spent beside her two daughters, and after blowing them a kiss, God called her home.
