Charles Ferris Cato

Charles Ferris Cato (Charlie), was born in Roanoke, AL, December 15, 1957, he went home to be with his heavenly father May 2, 2023. Preceded in death by great great Aunt Julia Bell Ford, father Ferris Cato, mother Nancy Huey Bradsher. Charlie was raised by his great great Aunt, Julia Bell Ford. After graduating Handley High School, Charlie joined the Marine Corps and served a two-year stint as a military policeman at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. It was there he found his love for guns and started his collection of guns. He returned to Alabama where he began working for the state of Alabama and taking classes in criminal justice at Auburn University. Charlie had a zest for life with a generous heart and a joy of meeting people. His love for Harley Hogs and Dodge Challengers was widely known among his family and friends, in his younger years he owned a Dodge Challenger and two Harley Hogs. Upon his retirement Charlie had planned to buy one of each as well as travel. He had already made plans to travel to Jamaica after his retirement. His love for his family was unrivaled. It was nothing he would not do to provide for them or protect them. It was known among his friends and co-workers that they could count on him when needed. Charlie leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 36 years, Patricia Felder Cato; son, Javan E. Felder, Sr (Rachell) (Orr, OH); daughter, Carmen Cato, (ex-husband, Mechin Jones) (Montgomery, AL); grandchildren, Isaiah Marshal (Pamplin, VA); Carissa Austin (Montgomery, AL); Laiya Felder (Indianapolis, IN); Shyanne and Caden Bennett (Montgomery, AL); Cameron Goulde (Virginia Beach, VA); Javan, Jr, Rashaun, Dominick Felder (Orr, OH); Makaylee and Makenzie Jones (Montgomery, AL). Special Aunt, Harriet Hall (Fairhope, AL); Uncle, Charles Huey (Auburn, AL); traveling buddies and co-workers, Jackie Vinson and Jeff High, special friend/contractor, Terry Cummings. A host of other loved family, friends and co-workers alike. The Cato family would like to thank Passion Church family, Saint James UMC, and Staff of Baptist South Hospital. Prattville Memorial Chapel and any all who donated cards, flowers, food, love offerings, phone calls, visits and encouraging words for all that they did during our time of need.
