Jeanie “Leanne” Miller Parrish, 49, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her husband and children. Though she passed just one day before her 50th birthday, she filled her 49 years with enough love, laughter, and kindness to last a lifetime. Born in Opelika, Alabama, Leanne was the beloved daughter of Bill Miller and the late Carol Miller. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Miller; her maternal grandparents, Joe and Grace Stough; and her paternal grandmother, Anna Marie Miller. Leanne is survived by her loving husband, David Parrish; her daughter, Peyton Browning; her son, Tanner Parrish; her father, Bill Miller; her sisters, Angie Miller and Megan Miller; her nephew, Braeden Fannin; her nieces, Skylar Gordon, Avery Gordon, Mallory Griffith, and McKenzie Faust; her great-niece, Brooklyn Fannin; and many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly. For many years, Leanne dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse. Nursing wasn’t simply her profession—it was her calling. She found genuine joy in helping people through some of the hardest moments of their lives, offering compassion, comfort, and kindness to every patient she cared for. Outside of work, Leanne was always finding a new project to dive into. She loved home improvement, arts and crafts, and discovering new hobbies. While she had a habit of starting more projects than she ever finished, those unfinished crafts became part of her charm and were just another reflection of her creative spirit and adventurous heart. She also loved a trip to the casino, where she was always ready to test her luck and enjoy a good time. If there was one thing everyone knew about Leanne, it was that she could make anyone laugh. She always had a joke ready for every situation, no matter what life threw her way. Even during her battle with cancer, she never lost her sense of humor. She continued to make those around her laugh until the very end—a gift her family will cherish forever. Above everything else, Leanne’s greatest joy was her family. She loved fiercely and unconditionally, and there was nothing more important to her than the people she loved. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel heard, offering thoughtful advice, unwavering support, and a comforting presence no matter the situation. She was the person people turned to when they needed encouragement, guidance, or simply someone who would listen without judgment… well, mostly without judgment. She loved gathering everyone together, especially for the family’s annual Christmas Eve shrimp boil—a tradition she looked forward to every year and one that created countless treasured memories. She also loved game day food and any excuse to fill the house with family, laughter, and good conversation. Leanne fought cancer with incredible courage and resilience for four years, facing each challenge with the same strength that defined her entire life. Even through her illness, her love for her family never wavered, and her selflessness remained unchanged. While our hearts are broken by her absence, we take comfort in the countless memories she gave us, the lessons she taught us, and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy will continue to live on through her family, the patients whose lives she touched, and everyone fortunate enough to know her. In accordance with Leanne’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. A celebration of her life will be announced and held in the coming months, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable woman she was and the love she leaves behind. Anyone who knew Leanne knew she always had one more joke to tell. Her final request was perfectly her: “Instead of donating to cancer research, donate to my husband, David, for putting up with me all these years… Mwah ha ha ha!”
