Frank Nicholas DeCrescenza

DeCrescenza, Frank Nicholas, Retired Master Sergeant, 81. Born May 10, 1934, Scranton, PA, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at his residence in Wetumpka, AL with his family at his side. A funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prattville with Father Jan Zagorski officiating. Entombment will follow at Prattville Memorial Gardens with Prattville Memorial directing with military honors. Mr. DeCrescenza was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Angelo DeCrescenza and Jospehine Tomaino; step-father, Chris Tomaino; brother, Michael DeCrescenza and brother-in-law, Charlie Reuther. He is survived by former wife and friend of 62 years, Barbara Ann DeCrescenza; three daughters, Kathleen Mims, Susan Beth (Martin) Peters and Debra Frances (David) Bazzell; four grandchildren, Krissy (Barry) Harp, Michael Nicholas Peters, Megan (Brandon) Bazzell-Duprel and Macy Mikayla Bazzell; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Grace Harp Thomas Whitt Harp and Hadley Nell Duprel; two sisters, Kathleen Reuther and Lillian DeCrescenza; two nephews, Charles (Maureen) Reuther and Nicholas (Laura) Reuther; one niece, Kristen (Ed) Shandra; three great-nephews, Nicholas Reuther, Stephen Reuther and Charles Reuther III; two great-nieces, Marian Reuther and Julia Shandra; aunt, Ann Pacifico; many cousins, extended family and friends. A Vietnam veteran that served in the Navy, retired from the Air Force with 22 years of service with many decorations. He served his country with dedication and pride. Frank was also a retired Captain from the State of Alabama Department of Corrections. He was a graduate of Troy University with a B.S. in Business Administration, Masters in Guidance & Counseling and an M.B.A. He was an avid golfer, loved sports and fishing. The family would like to thank Dr. Lori White, Hospice and Staff on 4th and 5th floor of Baptist Hospital South for their compassion and excellent care given to our father. Our deep appreciation goes to his neighbors for their prayers and kindness. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Baptist South Hospice, St. Joseph Catholic Church or Wounded Warrior Project.
