Jacque Young Karrh

Jacque Young Karrh, age 80, died on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the Palliative Comfort & Care Unit at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. From her birth on November 6, 1937 until her death on Tuesday she nourished people around her with love. She was born in Cullman, AL as the only child to Jack and Vesta (Mullins) Young. By the age of five, Jackie started playing the piano and dancing. By the age of 13 she was giving lessons to both children & adults. She became the first woman to graduate from Saint Bernard College in Cullman with a BS degree in biology. She met her husband of almost 58 years, Thomas Maxwell Karrh, at college, but he went on to finish at the University of Alabama. She began her career working at Southern Research in the lab and teaching dance. The two of them lived in Cullman, Huntsville, & Bessemer before settling in Prattville, Alabama. She was a local Real Estate Broker and developer. Left to honor Jackie and remember her love are her three children, Karen (Stan) Jordan, Julia Karrh, Thomas Maxwell Karrh II, and four grandchildren; Candace Greene (William) Arthur, Rebecca Jordan (Josh) Little, Emily Jordan, Chad Jordan and five great-grandchildren ; Talan, Rylan, Nolan, Elizabeth Lane (Laney), and Eli. Jackie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and maw maw. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 2:00 at Prattville Memorial Chapel and Memory Gardens 841 Fairview Ave, with the Rev. Randall Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Family Karrh Cemetery on Karrh Road in Prattville. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 2nd at the Funeral Home. The Karrh family would like to extend their gratitude to all friends, family, and the staff at the Palliative Comfort & Care Unit at UAB Hospital in Birmingham specifically for their attentiveness and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jackie's name to Prattmont Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Thomas Karrh II, Stanley Jordan, Chadwick Jordan, Josh Little, Todd Brooks and Brian Alker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Freeman Elam, Hank Immler and Wayne Nokes.
